Christmas And New Year What A Complete And Utter Load Of …

WARNING: This post may offend those with religious tendencies

OK that’s that out-of-the-way, so last night while wondering why we all bother with such frivolities of celebrating the birth of a mythical character from a book, it struck me that the human race so gullible to believe in such a bizarre story.

Even if it was true who’s to say the date is even correct as there is no physical proof of the birth on December 25th, to all we know it could have been in July!

It all just seems to be a bit far-fetched to me and yes I know this is going to really upset a lot of religiously minded people reading this post, but come on, are people so terrified of the way they live and fear death so much, that they have to believe in something to dull the thoughts of when you die, that’s it, the end, nothing!

Let’s face it, all these people who sit in a church and pray to some higher-being does it really get them anywhere, besides dulling their own personal fears of death and a hope that there is a purpose in life for them.

We are born, we live, we procreate, we die, that’s life there is no higher meaning it’s the way of the world, animals do it, plants do it and we do it!

Don’t even get me started in the fight of religion and Darwin!

Now my next moan 😉 New Years Eve

So the year came to an end and a new one started, so what, who gives a stuff!

The human obsession with celebrating the end of the year is mind-boggling, people go out of their way to go to a fireworks display, in shitty weather, and wow at the sight of the pretty lights!

Then there are those annoying text messages, there you are fast asleep and at around 12am they start flooding in. Most of the time they are being sent by someone who is out and about fully inebriated with a years supply of alcohol that they can’t even see their phone’s keypad properly.

Then the following afternoon they sit there saying “oh my head” or “never again!”, yeah right after the end of the year anyway!

But failing people going out they stay in and get completely rat arsed at home, attempting not to sound like a strangled cat on their karaoke machines!

So the year has come to an end, so what! They all do, everything comes to an end eventually, so is there really the need to destroy those brain cells with masses of alcohol just make a complete arse of yourself, me thinks not. Save those Happy New Year messages until you see that person, don’t text them, it’s just so horrible and we all know that people mass text that one message to their phone book anyway!

So there you have my rant, if it did offend, then that’s your problem, I did give a warning at the top of the post didn’t I.

So why I am ranting on about these two subjects, well why not! I’m just in one of those funny moods today and as this is a blog of thoughts and these were my thoughts at the time then there you go!

  1. Couldn’t agree more Karen, xmas should be banned altogether. My kids know santa is a myth and the ‘J’ man even moreso. Fireworks were going off last night that sounded more like bombs, my 5yr old was frantic because of the noise and continued in to the wee small hours and in Glasgow last night the wind was howling and the rain lashing down.

People say it’s the time of year to get together with family and friends, well what about the rest of the year? And what exactly is there to celebrate? We’ve destroyed nations and killed innocent children and people are living on the streets starving. At 6am there were 4 men on our street fighting like 10yr olds, fuelled by booze and god knows what else. Yeah……happy new year ….. pfft…..

    • Nicely put there Maria, when it comes down to the crunch of things these wars that have killed so many and destroyed the children’s lives are usually all brought on by one of two things, greed or religion, mainly the latter!

  2. … I can definately see where you’re coming from. But Christmas is more about the kiddies and making them happy! And it’s about being together with friends and family. Way too many people compete with buying presents for everyone and it’s sad to see them doing this! They lost focus on what it’s really about! But yeah, I can see where you’re coming from, too. Everyone has a right to their own opinion! Happy New Year To You And Your Family! 🙂 Jessica.

    • Thanks for stopping by and a having your say Jessica, so do you treat Christmas as a fun time for the kids only or do you believe in the ‘J’ man as Maria put it?
